Time for an update!
I So it was tough trying to get time in on the computer the past week (ish), so let me bring you up to speed: We made it out of Leander and to Lake Havasu as planned. We had a little over a week to turn our bags around and be ready to leave for my brothers wedding in Mexico, and we all struggled trying to get used to a queen size bed. Needless to say we were all a bit sleep deprived before the end of the week.
Now we are in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for one of my brothers wedding! It is BEYOND beautiful here. We’ve been doing a lot of walking and sight seeing and I can’t wait to be able to share some of the pictures and videos we got during our visit. We’ve ventured downtown a couple times and tried new local foods everyday. It has been so much fun, I really wish we were staying longer. It’s been so nice to be here with some family. My mom (mi-maw) has been hanging out with us during the days and watching the baby for us. She’s the only other person other than Bryce and I to get her down for a nap (and she doesn’t go down easy for Bryce!)
And speaking of little Valerie…
YOU GUYS! Valerie is crawling! She started doing some boot-scooting a few days ago on my birthday, and is now full on crawling! I can’t believe it. Time goes so quickly! Valerie makes big ear to ear grins at everyone she can when we’re walking around and she has made so many friends. It is SO cute, and SO entertaining. She has done amazing with all the traveling. She’s even stuck to her normal nap schedule through all the time changes, car/plane ride. Its been mind blowing!
We’ve done a lot of baby wearing. Honestly, I think that contact napping is keeping her on a regular schedule. I love getting to use each of my different carriers! Before we left I bought a new Beachfront Baby water ring sling and it is perfect for this trip. I would definitely recommend one if you 1. Like ring slings, and 2. are doing anything around water. We are going to be doing some hiking while we are in Northern Cali these next couple months, and I’m excited to bring this one along with us. It has super breathable fabric and is super lightweight so it wont add too much weight to my pack.
Tools that worked for us in the airport
I brought SO many different things with us on the trip to entertain Valerie, but if I were to re-do this trip I think I’d save room in our bags and weight on my shoulders and bring a lot less. While I had endless toys and snacks on hand, Valerie ended up being far more entertained with the airplane safety card in the seat back pocket and an empty cup from the airplane attendant. Other than some snacks and her sippy cup, she was not really interested in anything I had for her. (Also, we tried to use baby ear muffs we had Val, but she wasn’t down to wear them for long.)
The next time we fly I think I will keep it simple when it comes to entertainment and just bring a spill proof cup, some easy non messy snacks (Like crackers or melties), and 1-3 small toys (and a device charged for watching some Ms. Rachel for sure lol). If you are going to be flying soon with your little one, I made a post on all the different tips and tricks I’ve learned through our airport experiences. You might check it out and see what might also be helpful for you!
I promise I will get some photos up of our trip here soon. Until then, check out our beautiful pictures from Mexico here. Bye, for now!
